Malware makers love to target this event (April Fool’s Day) to release their sinister wares, and the latest is the Conficker C worm, the third version.

The Conficker worm appeared in late 2008 and making its name famous in January infecting over 9 million computers. Such strong devastating impact it caused in the computer world, Microsoft even offered $250,000 for the head of the worm’s writer.

According to reports, what is certain is that in April 1, all infected computer machines will be under the control of a master computer that is located somewhere across the world wide web. All computer users are advised to take precautionary measures to counteract the deadly effect of the Conficker C worm.

Make sure to update your antivirus and check it often if it is running for it can be disabled by the said worm.

So far, worms like Conficker C is only a threat to windows based OS; on the other hand, MAC and Linux platforms are said to be safe and secured from these kinds of threats. But who knows, only time can tell when these other operating systems be targeted by these ferocious malware creators.
