Signs of Computer Virus Infection

Signs of Computer Virus Infection

With the fast pace of technology today, many computer viruses is as well increasing. Your computer can be easily infected even with browsing websites. Some viruses have infiltrated your pc without you knowing it. Infections usually want your personal computers to be at its peak or top form always so that you won’t know that there’s an infection. With this, they can log your keystrokes and get any important information like passwords, credit card accounts, and many more.

These are some signs when your computer is infected with these viruses:

  • Your computer has slowed down, you might also experience computer hangs often.
  • Upon opening your browser, you are being directed to an unfamiliar site that you don’t even want to visit. This is caused by scripts made by the virus.
  • Continuously getting pop ups when browsing the world wide web. This is an effect of adware activities.
  • Some of your applications don’t work as they used to be.
  • Files and folders are being replicated with a different file extension (ex. Your document files will be replicated with an executable file.)
  • Your files are being hid by changing its attributes to “hidden”.
  • “Folder option” in the Windows Explorer is disabled.
  • Task Manager being disabled.

How to prevent computer virus infections

  • Most importantly, having a reputable antivirus is really helpful. See to it that you get all the updates so that your anti virus’s database will be updated with new releases of the software. Thus, keeping your computer from malicious malwares, adwares, worms, and the like. Regularly scan your computer.
  • Don’t adult/pornographic sites because these have a lot of virus to offer.

How to remove computer viruses when you’re infected

Now, when you are infected with these deadly computer viruses and you’re computer isn’t responding anymore, it hangs every now and then. Applications can’t be used the way they should be. And your antivirus can’t do anything about the virus, I suggest do a full system reinstallation. Do a clean format (not quick format), this will surely remove all those junks (viruses) inside your hard drive. But before doing this final solution, back up all the necessary/important files.

Refer to your PC’s documentation. If you’re not sure how to do these things, I strongly suggest consulting to an expert to fix your computer.
