Secrets in GoldFish Care

goldfishGoldfish is the most popular breed of pet fish.  It is famous for its flamboyant color, Junoesque posture, and elegant swimming gesture, as well as quiet and tender temperament.  Goldfish is a commonly sold fish that requires proper care and attention. They are renowned for their beauty and grace that they display when in aquarium.

I can still remember when my sister tried to have a goldfish. One day she just went home with a goldfish, without even knowing how to take care of it. She only bought foods for the fish, fed it twice a day. A month after, the goldfish died, just floating on its small bowl. Poor little fella.

When having a goldfish as your pet, it is important to know the quality of water. Goldfish tend to produce a lot of waste materials in the water.  A good filtration should therefore help to maintain water at an optimum level so as to care for the goldfish. The aquarium should be wide enough to provide space for the goldfish to grow.

Goldfishes usually prefer flakes as food but it is advised to give them pellets because it does not spoil the water quality. It is recommended to remove the excess foods that fishes won’t eat within a period of approximately five minutes. To keep your goldfish healthy, regularly change the water and replace it with new water. Goldfish are freshwater fishes that will thrive in temperature from 5 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius.

Goldfish likes to swim and explore, a minimum of 2 foot tank is required for them. Don’t put them inside a bowl; bowls can be polluted easily and the design hinders the transfer of fresh oxygen into the water. Don’t feed your fish too much, this will result into disaster. You will know if you overfeeds your fish if there is food lying about on the floor of the aquarium. These foods will rot and soon it will pollute the water.

Keep same kind of goldfish in one place, some goldfish are  much more delicate and slower moving than standard one. The fish tank should have a  filtration system, because the water circulates through the filtration system, and it filters out the impurities in the water. Fish population depends on the size of your tank, don’t overcrowd it.

Check your goldfish daily, observe if all of the equipments in the tank is running properly. Make sure the water pump is working smoothly as well for it will provide oxygen for the fishes. If you notice any problems with your fish, determine what is wrong and treat them immediately.
