Ragdoll Pet Care Tips
Though cats are one of the easiest pets to take care of, before jumping into getting a cat in your house, be very sure that none of your family members is allergic to cats. Cats are different from dogs when it comes to nutrition requirements. They have to eat meat to remain healthy. Cats need protein in their daily diet, they need protein 4 times as much as dogs. Cats are usually preferred by many people due to the large variety of species or cat breeds.
Don’t you know that cats can rotate their ears in many directions because they have 32 muscles in each ear? The biggest breed of cat is a ragdoll. Wild cats hunt on their own, they hunt small animals and they rarely eat anything other than freshly killed meat.
If you choose to buy a ragdoll breed of cat, here’s an information about them:
Ragdoll cat was first bred in the 1960′s in the USA. It was a cross breed between a Birman and a Persian-type cat. They are slow to mature, they reach full maturity in 3-4 years. This breed can easily be taken by strangers, so be very careful. These cats are not aggressive and should only be kept indoors. Ragdoll comes in a variety of colors and patterns. The colors Seal, Chocolate, Blue, and Lilac are the only one accepted by Cat Fancier’s Association. At birth all Ragdoll kittens are white and develop their colors by the age of 10 day. Ragdoll cats have short legs, semi-longhair coats with Siamese like markings.
Ragdoll Pet Care Tips
Ragdoll cats are bred selectively for certain characteristics, these traits include size, characteristic limpness, as well as their easy going nature. They need various kinds of food at different stages. Their food can be classified into dry, moist, and semi-moist foods. Food should always be stored warm or above room temperature. Be very extra careful in choosing kitten’s food, because ragdoll kittens have fragile stomach. Table left-over’s can be given occasionally but don’t make it their regular meal. Let them enjoy the sun because it is good for their health like us, humans.
Don’t feed your cat fatty cooked meats, or at least trim the fat off first. Keep the feeding area from flies for they can easily contaminate kitten foods.
